Job Description

  • Manage NORAD funded ‘’Anti-modern slavery’ project
  • Develop and execute a country level advocacy strategy
  • Identifying key external actors and opportunities at local, regional and national levels (allies and targets) with whom the country program needs to engage and ensuring that our strategies and programmes are informed by a strong understanding of the external environment and where shifts in power are most needed and most achievable.
  • Supports implementation of the core threads of work agreed by the CP
  • Focusing on developing clear policy positions as needed and linking local, regional and national level policy engagement, sharing and learning externally and working with key allies and social movements to advance the CPs agenda on its policy advocacy works
  • Leads the design and implementation of National and cross-country / international policy and advocacy engagements and research on behalf of AAE.
  • Maintains strong relationships with relevant partners, social movements and regional and international allies
  • Ensure appropriate and effective representation of ActionAid Ethiopia in key National policy spaces and in relevant media debates (print, radio, TV and social media)
  • Supports the Country Director with policy and media briefs

Job Requirement

  • Minimum BA Degree in Advocacy, Policy Analysis, Political science, Law, or other related social science fields. MA in relevant field of study is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of demonstrable substantive experience in advocacy and policy as well as project management role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of rights-based approaches and women’s rights programming and providing technical assistance to partners and consortium members.
  • Previous experience of managing projects mainly related to safeguarding projects
  • Experience and commitment to align & work with women, the poor and marginalized groups
  • A good knowledge of HRBA programming
  • Ability in the use of gender analysis tools
  • Broad understanding of national Gender and Women’s policy environment and local and national gender issues;
