Job Description
Work closely with the Managing Director to determine long-term financial goals and develop strategies to achieve the financial objectives of the company. Manage the capital budgeting processes, the capital structure the company will use to finance its operations, and the working capital to ensure the company has sufficient resources to continue its operations and avoid costly interruptions.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct the process of planning and managing the company’s long-term investments by trying to identify and analysing investment opportunities.
- Oversee the financial management and budget planning processes, and offer insights and financial advice to the top management to help them make the best business decisions for the company.
- Help the company in identifying the right sources of funds, which is required for implementing investment decisions of the company.
- Negotiate with creditors and other financial institutions to obtain funds required for the company business operations.
- Determine optimum proportion of debt and equity in the capital structure the company will use to finance its operations to achieve minimum cost of capital and maximize business growth of the company.
- Ensure that funds obtained from different sources are prudently invested and utilized to achieve business goals and objectives of the company.
- Ensure proper management of cash and other current assets, which involves forecasting the cash inflows and outflows to ensure that there is neither shortage nor surplus of cash with the company.
- Ensure that sufficient funds are available for purchase of materials, payment of wages and meeting day-today expenses.
- Evaluate the financial performance of the company by using different methods and techniques such as Return on Investment (ROI), budgetary control, cost control, internal audit, break-even analysis, and ratio analysis.
- Ensures reliability and integrity of financial management information reporting systems.
- Develop financial policies and procedure manuals including accounting and treasury policy and procedures, level of authorization, work flow etc.
- Ensure that financial statements are prepared monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually and organize internal and external audit support programs.
- Monitor to ensure that the company is paying its financial obligations such as paying taxes, loans on time.
- Manage and execute the financial strategies concerning revenues, receivables, cashes, inventories,payables, disbursements, reconciliation of bank are carried out on time, and ensure that legal financial obligations are met at all times.
- Keep up-to-date on changes on financial laws and regulations with a special emphasis on tax laws, and ensure that all reported taxes are in compliance with comply with those financial guidelines
- Understand and manage possible financial or legal risks, and devise appropriate strategies to avoid or minimize those risks, and maximize advancement of the company.
- Constantly improve finance practices, and procedures to improve financial and operational performance of the company.
- Assess the company's financial position, financial stability and growth, and interpret financial statement and regularly inform and advise to the Managing Director, on how to reduce costs and increase sales revenue and profitability.
- Ensure staff members are getting necessary trainings to improve knowledge and skill to improve performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Education: BA or MA in Finance management or accounting
- Experience:
- 18 years for BA graduate of which 8 years of experience in managerial position
- 16 years for MA graduate of which 6 years of experience in managerial position
- Skills and Behaviour:
- Advanced skill in administration of finance and strong analytical skills with good presentation, report writing and interpersonal skill.
- Extensive knowledge of setting of budgets, reporting, inventory control systems and accounting.
- Experience and knowledge in investment and project finance.
- Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner
- Outstanding knowledge and understanding of IFRS, ERCA laws
- Experience with enterprise planning software platforms (ERP)
- Cross functional team leadership skill
